Hello everyone. My nick name is Machy. Call me Machy. Today, I’d like to talk about “Romeo and Juliet” I’ve read last two weeks. I’ve read four books “Romeo and Juliet”. They are “Macmillan” “Penguin Readers” “Bookworms” and “Black Cat”. This time I enjoyed one mostly is “Macmillan”one. What I’m interested in is that poetic description and old English. “Black Cat” one is interesting book too. This book have the column that is exploring historical background, cultural connections and other topics suggested by the text. I’m going to talk one of them from Romeo and Juliet. That is about element of Great Love Stories. Romeo and Juliet is one of Great love stories. You know.
These element of great love stories are follow a ～h. a The story ends with the death of both of the lovers b One or both of the lovers fall in love at first sight, or in a very short time c Their love is ‘impossible’ It must stay a secret d The lovers are very young and good-looking e The lovers have a very short period of happiness before something terrible happens f One of the lovers has had a previous experience of love which was not satisfactory g The woman says she is in love first h Most of the lovers’meetings take place in secret
Next I’m going to talk some lines in Romeo and Juliet. The lines are something when the lovers fall in love.
Juliet says to Romeo How did you get here, and why did you come? The orchard walls are high and difficult to climb. And if my family find you here, they will kill you.
Romeo says to Juliet Love’s light wings helped me to fly over the walls. Stone walls cannot keep love out. Love is brave enough to try anything – so your family will not stop me.
Next is one line in old English Juliet says O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name. Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love. And I’ll no longer be a Capulet.
Follow by above line in modern English Juliet Oh Romeo, Romeo, why does your name have to be Romeo? Tell me that Montague is not your father, and that that is not your name. Or. If you won’t do that, just promise to be my love, and I shall no longer be a Capulet.
